Lockdown browser keeps you from using the web. Professors can monitor you taking the test and will notice when you’re cheating or using the internet. That’s what the camera is for. But if there isn’t a webcam check does it still record using webcam? I haven't been able to find surefire answers on this. I would really like to know if possible!
If you're using the respondus monitor version of the software it also requires your webcam to be on and tracks things like eye movement. AND if your exam or quiz or whatever is on your schools portal (like canvas or blackboard or whatever) they usually keep track of your activiity, like if you tab out or go to another tab, even without respondus. I keep hearing that the lockdown browser has eye tracking and you can't take the exams without a camera and microphone. I'm just not sure if this is true because I usually keep my camera covered and the lockdown browser still worked for normal tests throughout the semester despite it being covered.
